Embroidery Patterns

I'm cooking up something good. It won't happen until after CHA, but I've been flipping through my sketch book and turning my favorite sketches into embroidery patterns. I've never done it before and I'm sure I have to figure out some technical stuff, but I'm getting pretty excited. It's really fun to see how the sketches look in thread. Before I get all involved in the project though...is this even something you think the world would be interested in? I have a tendency to think I have a great idea and then watch in frustration as it flops. Do you ever do that? Post something on your blog or in your online shop and think, "This is going to create a feeding frenzy!" But nothing happens? All you hear is the chirp of crickets?

I was a good girl today and posted to the Wardrobe ReFashion blog. Check-out my post here.

I'm off to finish getting ready for CHA. I'll be at The Inspired at Home Pajama Party tonight. I'll be the one wearing lamb slippers. If you can't come in person, be sure to join the party on Facebook.

I think it's a great idea...I hear you about the crickets chirping. That's happened to me, too...never know what's going to stick and what won't.

OMG that happens to me all the time! It's very discouraging. I love embroidery patterns and hope you'll give them a try cause what I can see looks so, so cute!

I really want to learn how to embroider, and your photo on the post today really drew my eye. I have such memories of my granny's embroidered tea towels, and would love to be able to carry on the tradition with some more "modern" designs. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I think it's always a good idea to use your own sketches...a lot of people are looking for one of a kind stuff, even though not everyone is. not that I'm an expert on what sells, but I notice that MY designs of everything I sell usually sell much faster than things I do from a pattern! Can't wait to see your sketches come to life!!

Funny thing, I'm not much of a needle & thread person yet for some reason, I really enjoy embroidery.

I remember a jean jacket I had when I was a teenager (it was a big thing then, trust me!) and I drew a peace symbol on the back of it and filled it in with satin stitches - all in rainbow colors (in their correct order!).

It was stunning IMHO!

I just don't know why that works for me when most sewing doesn't.

...Although, I've been visiting the 'refashion' site almost every day since your blog post about it and I got some freecycle clothing that just might be converted to something else soon...

We'll see!

hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I would definately give your patterns a try, I listed some of my new doodle embroidery this week and have had lots of enquiries about selling the designs, so give it a go!

I quite often get the buzz about an item but it doesn't sell. But that's part of the creative process. I think our job is to keep making, making what we get excited about and test them out. We must not ever let that stop :)
