We had very warm and beautiful weather in Southern California this weekend, so we headed out to our backyard to do a little Spring cleaning. We have an impossibly small backyard, but we use it to it's fullest. It's amazing what you can with a small space if you really put your mind to it. I mean, our kitchen garden is on the side of our house and, as you see from the photo, we don't have a lot of room. The pots are set against the wall of our house, and a few feet across, you run into our fence!
This Spring, in light of our vow to spend more time outside, we have planted a little kitchen garden. There's not enough soil in our yard to create a garden, so we've done what we can with containers. Just some herbs, tomatoes, lettuce, and peppers. My daughter is very excited about the process and we have created a garden journal that the whole family can draw in and take notes about our urban gardening experience. Now the trick is to see how long I can keep everyone motivated to keep the garden up!
What did you do this weekend? Are you planting anything yet?
